ABOUT ME

IMG_2130 bis.jpeg

Diana Anyakwo grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. She is of mixed Irish and Nigerian heritage.

I moved to the UK when I was a teenager and later graduated from the University of Manchester with a Degree in Molecular Biology and a Master in Bioreactor Systems.

I spent three years in Athens, Greece where I taught English and worked as an editor at an educational publisher. My debut young adult novel My Life as a Chameleon has been shortlisted for the 2024 KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Awards, longlisted for the 2024 Jhalak Children’s and YA prize and the Diverse Book Awards. My writing has appeared in The Telegraph and Black Ballad magazine.

I currently live and work in Manchester as a freelance writer and editor of English Language teaching materials.

In my free time I love reading, writing, binge watching TV series and eating chocolate, in that order.

This is a picture of me with my lovely standard poodle Daisy, we both love exploring new places and trying new treats.
